Mrs. Norma Kathleen Catlett, age 90, entered peacefully into rest on March 26th, 2021, at Westmoreland Health and Rehab. Norma was born in Ten Mile, TN, where some of her extended family still lives. She married William “Bill” Catlett, the love of her life, in 1948. Together, they raised two daughters, Carole and Barbara, and made their home in Chattanooga and ultimately Knoxville. Norma’s greatest joys included sewing beautiful clothes for her daughters and granddaughter, gardening, Bible study, singing, and cooking holiday meals for her family. Norma and Bill were charter members of Cumberland Baptist Church in Knoxville, where Norma sang in the choir and Bill served as a deacon. There, they made many lifelong friends. After Bill passed away in 1994, Norma enjoyed friendships and travel. She doted on her two grandchildren, and she coordinated and participated in church and neighborhood functions for many years. Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Catlett; her mother, Elsie Thompson; her brother, Ray Thompson; her sister, Doris Dooley; her son-in-law, Kevin Schram; and several much-loved nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is survived by daughter, Carole Catlett Schram; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Catlett Cooper and Bill Cooper; granddaughter, Katherine Schram; grandson, Will Cooper; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special thanks to the staff at Westmoreland, who provided compassionate end of life care. A celebration of Norma’s life will be held at a later date, and will be announced by her family at that time. While we rejoice that our beloved mother and grandmother is free from the body and mind that failed her, we grieve that Alzheimer’s disease took away her memories of her precious life in her final years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pat Summitt Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association in Norma’s memory. Condolences are welcome at weaverfuneralservices.com
