Opal Sedrick Simpkins, 99, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018. “Old soldiers never die, they just fade away” because they live by the courage of their convictions. The risk of life is their metal for the belief of their convictions which must go forward. In World War II each of them served the Lord and knew it as duty and duty becoming their direction - each knowing in their heart duty done to the best of their conviction would bring the glory to God as the end of their story. Mr. Simpkins was an Army Veteran Staff Sergeant of WWII serving in the European Theater part of Operation Over Lord, Battle of St. Lo, the Bulge and Normandy. He retired from Davey Tree Experts with over 30 years of service. Preceded in death by his wife Cleo Wandalee Johnson Simpkins. Survivors include his children Gerry and wife Kathy Simpkins, Wanda Simpkins Rogers, grandchildren Krissie Owens, Jack Simpkins, Barbara Beam, Scott Simpkins, Tani Tomlinson, and Stacey Stephan. Great grandchildren Ashley Monk, D.J. Owens, Jasmyne Simpkins, Kristin Tomlinson, Amber Tomlinson, Sophie Stephan, Ayla Stephan, and Tinsley Stephan. In lieu of flowers friends may make donations to St. LaSabre Indian School or a charity of your choice. Family and friends will meet Friday, March 16, 2018 at 1:45pm for a 2pm graveside service with full military honors, in the Berry Highland Memorial cemetery.
