Oren Richard Watts

Oren Richard Watts, age 75, of Farragut, TN passed away suddenly Wednesday, March 2, 2016 with Betty, his wife of almost 54 years, by his side. His last words to her were, "I love you." He was born in Charlotte, NC. He was Honorably Discharged as a Lance Corporal in the 6th Marine Corps Reserve. Richard worked for Whirlpool Corporation for over 40 years before retiring. He moved to Farragut in 1973 where he immediately became involved in the sports programs. He coached and refereed for many years and was a commissioner of CBFO. He supported Farragut High School baseball and football programs; operating the score clock at all home football games for over 20 years. He was a huge influence on many young men he coached throughout the years. Richard was a member of Knoxville First Church of the Nazarene where he was music director for many years. His love of Christ showed through his loving attitude and the fact he gave so much to so many people. He was preceded in death by his parents, R.B. and Gladys Watts; grandson, Seth Adam Gossage. He is survived by his wife, Betty Watts of Farragut; children, Brad (Susan Williams) Watts, Dina (David) Hodges, Shannon (Adam) Gossage; grandchildren, Eden, Kayla and Sydney with their mother Shawna Watts, Richard and Brenna Hodges, Ethan, Laney and Mallory Gossage, all of Knoxville; sisters, Janet Dougherty, Linda Helderman, and Diane Kroeze. Family will receive friends Saturday, March 12th from 1:30-3:00 pm at Forest Lawn West Chapel 4601 Freedom Drive Charlotte, NC 28208 with graveside service following. A second Receiving of Friends will be Saturday, March 19th at Knoxville First Church of the Nazarene 538 Vanosdale Road Knoxville, TN 37909 from 2:00-4:00pm with a Celebration of Life Service following at 4:00pm.
