Raymond stepped into the arms of Jesus Sat Dec 28, 2019. He was larger than life, adored his Grandchildren and his Girls. His love for Christ and community stretched far and wide in his gift of serving others well. He was a member and deacon of New Hopewell Baptist Church, serving countless hours on the hospitality and building committees. He also served for years on the Baptist Association Disaster Relief Team in Mississippi, Texas and Kentucky making life long friendships he immensely enjoyed. He spent 31 years with UPS as a package car driver and then retired to spend his days loving his grandchildren and helping everyone he could. He was gentle, funny, and kind hearted. He wanted “everything” done the right way and of course he would tell you how and then show you twice.

Preceded in death by Avis his wife of 56 years whom he loved beyond measure, parents: John & Mae Boling, in-laws: Howard & Nola Carver, brothers: Alvin, Paul & George Boling and sister Kathy Greer. brothers-in-law: Gene Greer & Topper Carver

He leaves behind daughters: Tonya Metler and Kristi Wilson, grandchildren: Tanner Metler and Hannah Wilson, brothers: Henry & Wayne Boling, sisters-in-law, Jan, Patty, Kathy Boling and Libby Carver. Several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews all of whom he loved dearly.

I worked with Raymond for over 30 years at UPS and consider that a great privilege. He was a hard worker and was always ready to help me if needed. He will be missed.

Raymond and his family were very close to my family for the past 35 years or so. He was a loving and sincere person with a big heart and winning personality. His daughter Tonya was married to my grandson, and we families share their son Tanner. Raymond did many things for Todd over the years and they were very close. My contacts with Raymond, Avis and their family left me with so many fond memories. Heaven has gained a worker, driven to do for others.

I worked with Ray for 30 years at UPS. He was such a good worker and never complained about anything. He did his job and tried to help others with theirs if they needed it. A great man and my life is better for knowing him.

Raymond was a wonderful man that helped a lot of people. We will all miss him, but are happy for him. He is now healthier and happier than he has ever been.

My precious Mom, Mary, was the baby sister of Raymond's Dad, John Henry. We became known as the Brown cousins from Michigan, because there was a set on Aunt Mae's side as well! We would visit Tennessee every summer. Growing up Uncle Johnnie and Aunt Mae lived right next to Papaw's where we stayed. Raymond was the quiet one, but the shy smile became broad and then he was a gentle teaser! Later in life, he and his wife Avis trusted the much younger me to babysit first Tonya and then Kristi too. I will never forget this! Go rest high upon that mountain, in heaven, Raymond...your work on earth is through. Love, hugs and prayers to those you've left behind. We'll see you soon!
