Raymond "RG" Glen Hurst

Raymond Glen "RG" Hurst, 89, born December 8, 1931, entered into Heaven on November 8, 2021. RG was a loving and devoted family man who always had a smile.

RG proudly served in the United States Air Force for 41 years, four years of active duty and thirty-seven years in the Air National Guard, while working at Oak Ridge Y-12 Laboratory for 37 years.

He loved all of his nurses and had a great appreciation for all of our armed forces and police officers. He went out of his way to thank them for their service on a regular basis. RG was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Sue; son, Michael; his parents and his brother Gene.

He is survived by his children, Patrick Hurst (Janet Deal) and Janet Stanton (Steve); daughter-in-law, Jean Hurst; sister, Anita Fine (Charles); four grandchildren, Gretchen Sutton (Geoff), Scott Hurst, Nicholas Hurst (Samantha), Parker Hurst (Beth) and “bonus” grandson Stephen Stanton Jr.. In addition, he leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Stella, Easton, Harrison, Emmie and Rollins. The family will receive friends, Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 1-2pm followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2pm and a 3pm Entombment. The services will be held at Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike, with Charlie McNutt officiating.

A very special thanks for the excellent and loving care from all his nurses at P.C.M.

I’ll always remember his big smile and just a natural way to make people feel good. I know he will be missed tremendously. Prayers for family during this time but so thankful for memories.

I remember RG as a very kind person and always have a smile. He always greet my family when we walked here at Falling waters subdivision. I remember seeing him here last year when him and his nurse visited our subdivision and always says " I miss this place and I have the best driveway in the neighborhood" I will miss you RG till we meet again! Thank you so much for all the memories and Falling Waters subdivision will be always your
home.
