
Odum Sr., Reuben Samuel “Sam”, born July 7, 1948 left this earth on October 4, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. Sam was an avid UT fan and proudly displayed that by the amount of UT memorabilia in his man cave. Despite being disabled due to a brain aneurysm and stroke in 1987; Sam lived life beyond his disabilities and enjoyed life to its fullest. He leaves behind a host of family and friends to mourn his passing. Preceded in death by parents James Edwin and Eva May Odum; daughter, Tammy Carpenter; brothers Lewis and Roy Odum, and Willie McKinyon; and sister, Helen Meek. Survived by wife, Pam; sons, Reuben Samuel “Sammy” Odum Jr., and Terry Odum; brother, Danny Odum; grandchildren, April and Adam Carpenter, Cassidy, Cameron, and Cara Odum. We wish to express our thanks to Alive Hospice and their staff; especially, Sandy Minor for the good care she provided to Sam; also, volunteer Ray Smith who spent many hours sitting with Sam. The family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home Chapman Highway on Monday, October 6, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. Phil Peek officiating.
