

Mark Baker, age 66, of Sanibel, Florida, passed away after an extended illness at Hope Hospice in Fort Myers, FL on February 19, 2025. Mark led a life of faith, resilience and deep love for his family and community. Born on March 20, 1958, in Knoxville, to Robert “Bob” and Nancy Davis Baker of Dandridge, TN. Mark grew up in Dandridge, TN where he attended Dandridge Elementary, Maury Middle/High School and Jefferson County High School. Mark graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Marketing in 1981. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity at the University of Tennessee. Mark along with his father, Bob Baker and brother, Scott Baker, ran American Components and America Accessories until selling in 2001. At that time, he changed careers and became a Realtor on Sanibel Island in 2002. He was a long-time member of Dandridge First United Methodist Church and Sanibel Community Church. A devoted family man, Mark cherished his 43 years of marriage to his college sweetheart, Teresa. They had two sons, Nicholas Baker, 35, and Ryan Baker, 38, who both reside in Fort Myers, FL. He was predeceased by his mother, Nancy Davis Baker; paternal grandparents, Jacob and Nettie (Patterson) Baker of Dandridge, TN and maternal grandparents, Jasper Judson and Alverta (Grubb) Davis of Strawberry Plains, TN. He is survived by his wife, Teresa (Thomason) Baker of Sanibel, FL; sons, Nicholas and Ryan Baker of Fort Myers; father, Robert “Bob” Baker of Dandridge, TN; brother, Scott (Lesa) Baker of Dandridge, TN; aunt, Phyllis Sue (Davis) Bates (David) of Brentwood, TN and uncle, Jacob Boyd Baker (Sarah) of Lake Mary, FL. An avid University of Tennessee sports fan, Mark’s enthusiasm for his alma mater was only matched by his love for the natural beauty of Douglas Lake and the surrounding mountains and Sanibel Island where he enjoyed the beach, biking and walking. Mark Baker’s legacy is one of courage, love and unwavering commitment to his family and community. His life will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. Graveside services will be held in Knoxville, Tennessee on June 7, 2025 in Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery.
