Richard Buchanan Knight, age 86, of Townsend, Tennessee passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021. Richard was born September 3, 1935. He grew up on a farm early in his life along with his brothers and sisters. Richard was no stranger to hard work. He was a caring and loving brother who always had time to help out. Richard loved to fish and watch sports on tv, while watching sports the volume was very loud. His favorite activity was cruising Cades Cove. Richard and everyone in the automobile were on an animal counting expedition. An example would be the note pad he kept in his automobile, recording all bears, deer and turkey. He was preceded in death by parents, Buck and Mae Knight; brothers, Herbert and Jim Knight; sisters, Hazel and Vina Lou. Richard is survived by sons, Dwayne (Janet) Knight and David Knight; daughter, Marsha (Dean) Powell; 10 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Bill (Doris) Knight and Don (Dottie) Knight; 1 sister, Chris Curtis; several nieces and nephews and many family members also survive; family and community members of Big Valley Resort. The family will receive friends Thursday October 7, 2021 from 10-12 p.m. at Berry Funeral Home 3704 Chapman Hwy. Service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Steve Burgeos officiating.
