Richard Theodore Underwood

Underwood, Richard T. (Ted) age 89 of Knoxville passed away April 28, 2026 at his home with his daughter by his side. Ted was a proud Air Force Veteran whose service took him to Japan, and experience which left a lasting mark and inspired many years of Zen gardening. Following 17 years as an accountant for Sealtest Ted met the challenge of bringing salt and sand barges to Knoxville's shorelines. He was known for his kindness, patience, willingness to always help, and his love for his family and friends. His wit, wisdom, and artistry will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret F. Underwood; daughter, Phyllis A. Maples; parents, Howard and Ethel Underwood and several siblings. Ted is survived by his daughter, Pamela K. Underwood; sister, Bonnie Turbeville (Bill); Grandchildren, Richard Lambert, Pamela Lambert and John Lambert (Chelsey); great-grandchildren, Adrianna, McKinleigh, Kindyll and Landreigh and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends, Tuesday May 5, 2026 from 1-2 pm and service will follow at 2:00 pm. Entombment will be at Berry Highland South Mausoleum following the service.
