He was born on September 16th, 1958 in Village of Sidney, New York.
At the age of 19, Rick enlisted in the US Army. Valuing this service highly, he served for three years as a combat engineer, attained the rank of Specialist 4th Class, earned the Army Good Conduct Medal and, no surprise to family or friends, he also earned the expert qualification badge for the M16 rifle.
A particularly memorable aspect of Rick's Army service, he assisted in constructing a 65 foot tower and suspension traverse at Lake Taal, Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Rick received an honorable discharge in 1984, but a couple of decades later he once again answered the call to serve his country, this time as a contracted engineering equipment operator assisting the Department of Defense with the environmental restoration of formerly used defense sites and clearing unexploded munitions making them safe again. He was a loving father, grandfather, partner, son, sibling, and friend. He will be greatly missed by many.
He is preceded in death by his father William Yetman, Jr, grandparents Katherine & William Yetman, Sr, and Rena & Jesse Snay.
He is survived by his parents John and Jessie Cantrell, his life partner Sheila Brock, his 4 children Jennifer Yetman, Amanda (Hank) Ingram, Alexa (Marc) Cabiness, and Chastin Yetman, his sister Sherry (Craig) Welter, his brother Randy (Deborah) Yetman, and his 7 grandchildren, Marcus, Kaylynn, & Christian Cabiness, Taylen, Daizee, & Deacon Ingram, and Cohen Yetman.
We will have a celebration of life honoring the wonderful man Rick was on April 26th (time and location are pending at this time).
Memorials/ Donations may be made to Alexa Cabiness or Amanda Ingram to help with his cremation and celebration of life expenses. Online condolences and fond memories may be shared with the Yetman family at www.berryfuneralhome.com
