

Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, John Hensley and Velma Edwards Hensley; his brother Ronald "Ronnie" Hensley; and his sisters Wanda Lusk and Brenda "Susie" Hurst.
He is survived by his devoted life partner of 25 years, Cindy Cavender, who brought joy and companionship to his life. Ricky was a loving father figure to his step-daughter Melissa (Jimmy) Schuster and cherished step-grandfather to Henley James. He leaves behind his sons Thomas "Cody" Hensley and Jacob Cole Hensley.
Ricky's memory will be treasured by his surviving siblings: brothers Ray (Jeanette) Hensley and Steve Hensley, sisters Linda Bailey and Debra Justus and sister-in-law Gail Hensley. He also leaves behind his special friend Paul Monroe, along with several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will deeply miss his presence.
A man who found peace in nature's beauty, Ricky had a deep love for the outdoors and held a special fondness for the majestic Smoky Mountains. His appreciation for the natural world reflected his gentle spirit and love of life's simple pleasures. Ricky's legacy of love, kindness, and appreciation for life's natural beauty will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A Receiving of friends and family for Ricky will be held Sunday, July 27, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920, followed by a memorial service at 5:00 PM.
