

Robert Kent Dixon, born December 27, 1941, passed away July 12, 2021. He was preceded in death by parents Robert and Mabel Dixon and former wife Nancy Dixon Ferguson. Kent is survived by son Kevin, beloved daughter-in-law Samantha and precious grandson Nolan, who was the joy of Kent's life. He and Nolan were best friends and enjoyed countless times together enjoying baseball and hockey. Kent had a 40-year career at Y-12 in Oak Ridge. He loved his job, but enjoyed his retirement. He was a former member of Middlebrook Pike Baptist Church, Third Creek Baptist Church and West Lonsdale Baptist Church.
Kent is also survived by brothers James Ronnie Dixon (Jim) of Macon, MS and Gregory Hubert Dixon (Greg), sister-in-law Cathey of Marianna, PA and sister Gayle Dixon Alley, Nashville, TN. He is survived by nephews Greg Alley, Ronnie Dixon, Scott Dixon and nieces Sherri Robinson and Abigail Dudley. Several great nieces and nephews. Kent was a sports fan, playing baseball from Little League well into adulthood. He participated in several national baseball championship tournaments. He was an avid UT baseball, basketball and football fan. He shared his love of baseball with his grandson Nolan, teaching and mentoring him. Kent never met a stranger and enjoyed lifelong friendships. He was the cornerstone of his family. The one everyone counted on. He will be greatly missed.Visitation with the family will be Monday at Weaver's Chapel from 5:00-7:00 pm with service to follow. Family and friends will meet Tuesday at Berry Highland West Cemetery at 10:45 am for an 11:00 am interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
