

Dr. Linnabary was a 1954 graduate of Old Columbus North High School, 1959 The Ohio State University B.S. in Agriculture, 1964 College of Veterinary Medicine D.V.M., 1977 Vanderbilt University M.S. of Pathology. He had a mixed veterinary practice on Chapman Hwy., Knoxville, until 1975; taught at The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine for 25 years retiring as Associate Professor Emeritus in 2000; Staff Epidemiologist with TN Dept. of Agriculture; consulted with U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security; deployed with USDA Foreign Animal Disease Task Forces to England in 2001; served Tennessee Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners; President of both East and Middle Tennessee Veterinary Medical Associations; 1982 and 2010 awarded Tennessee Governor’s Award. Expertise post-retirement was animal care and housing during emergencies and disasters; he wrote disaster animal care plans for Knox County, the State of Tennessee. Collaborated in emergency planning and response with Dept. of Homeland Security; authored numerous papers and book chapters; served with 5th Division in Germany, life member of Society of the Fifth Division. Dr. Linnabary enjoyed golf, Loved God and all His creations, especially his cows.
Survived by his loving wife Phoebe Deyo Cheffy; daughter Mary Alice (Randy) Wagner; son Robert Phelps (Christine Marie); grandsons William Robert, Benjamin Phelps; granddaughters Kirsten Mae, Anna Marie; brother Nelson (Yvonne); sister Linda Turner; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Preceded by brothers and sisters: Lewis Vincent (Charlotte Hewlitt), Ivan Bennett (Irene Wagner), Marjorie Lauretta (Eugene) Davis, Ruth Naomi (Norman) Hessler, Ralph Phelps, Edson Burr.
Visitation 3-5:30 pm, May 10, at Grace Lutheran Church, 9076 Middlebrook Pike, Knoxville, with memorial service following. Interment at Otterbein Cemetery, Westerville, OH.
