Robert Earl Maloney, age 94, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024. Bob and his father-in-law owned Don Wylie Hardware Store, on Cumberland Avenue near the UT campus for 34 years. Later, he worked for Rochester Midland Chemical company as a sales representative. After retirement, he spent his afternoons as a Ranger and Starter at Gettysvue Country Club. He loved gospel and quartet music and was an avid UT fan. Bob loved to cook and enjoyed caring for his family. He was a devoted father and husband. His happy place was sitting on the dock at their home on Fort Loudon Lake with his wife, Marty.
Bob was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church. He served in the US Navy and was a member of the Chota Masonic Lodge #253.
Bob is preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Martha Wylie Maloney; parents, Samuel and Edna Maloney; sister, Mildred Rhodes; nephew, Ronnie Rhodes. He leaves behind his sons, Donald Maloney (Marsha) and Robert Maloney; grandsons, Brandon Maloney (Christy) and Tyler Maloney (Lindsay); great grandson, Karson Maloney; great granddaughters, Caydence, Isabella and Avery Maloney; nephew, Bill Rhodes and niece, Marsha Rhodes Claytor.
A funeral service will be held for Bob on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 1pm at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home.
