So sad to hear that the Mount Olive Community lost such a kind and devoted neighbor. He was always there to help a neighbor fix their mower or vehicle...I am sure his grand kids must miss him terribly...Will miss chatting with him from the driveway as I drove past...

Our Papaw, always had a smile and a wave for anyone coming up the driveway.  He made wagons for the kids in the neighborhood, and his bike shop was always open to the kids to pump up the tires and oil the chain.  He was always there for neighbors for lawn mower repair, car troubles, rides, handyman repairs,  and so many more heartfelt deeds hat he never spoke of or looked for credit for doing.   He was always there in the crowd smiling back encouragingly through years of his granddaughters' school programs.  His favorite meal for so many many years was breakfast...2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, 2 cups of coffee, and 2 pieces of toast, heavy on the jelly!  He loved to tease about when I sat the smoke alarm off, that it was the 'dinner' bell calling him to the table.  He was a quiet and gentle man with a quick sense of humor who enjoyed living among his collected treasures and beautiful handmade chimes and exquisitely worked wooden treasures like reindeer, rocking horses, pink flamingos, ducks, puppies, and so many more that he gave to friends and family to enjoy.  He always had a pack of gum and change around for his granddaughters to find when we walked up to tell him dinner was ready and we were lucky enough to have dinner as a family almost every night as we grew up.  You could always depend on him.  He was faithful and lovingly devoted to all those lucky enough to know him. We all loved him dearly and were so lucky to see his face light up in a big smile every time we came to visit. He will be terribly missed.  Love you always Papaw Bob!!!

We loved his humor and kindness.  Rest in peace, with Aunt Joyce and Cousin Bobby.  Mary Lynn’s children, Pat, Jo, Sheila and Carl.
