Sweet, beautiful Ruby. You always looked so amazing and your beautiful smile would light up any room. How blessed I was to have had you in my life. You will always hold a special place in my heart. Heaven has welcomed a very precious angel. I love you, Ruby, and you will be missed.

How do I love you Momma Ruby? You have always been there for me, David, Jenni and Jay. There were many times that you put aside things that you wanted to do just to help us when we needed you. The times that I would mess up a garment trying to make it perfect, you were there to make it right!  I can hear you laughing at ALL the pins I used just to hold seams together so it would be perfect! You would say, honeypot you pick the most difficult patterns and then you would laugh and hug me.  You assured me that Jenni and Jay would survive regardless of what I might do. You would laugh at all the Desitin I used to prevent diaper rash. Babies (and granddoggies) were one of the joys of your life. Many times we would shop, cook, and spend good quality times with the whole family. I could go on and on describing my love for you, but I will stop now. Just know that are you are in my heart forever. R.I.P. Momma Ruby, I love you.

Our hearts are heavy for the Avans Family.  Ruby was such a sweet, pleasant little lady.  We enjoyed spending time  with her at the "ladies table" at Ben Atchley.  I will always remember her telling us that she appreciated us every time we did any little thing for her.  We hope you find comfort in knowing that she is at peace and in pain no longer.

Many people have commented on Ruby's smile and how sweet she was.  I know that to be true.  I met Ruby and Gene through Linda and David many years ago.  The first time I met them might have been on Thanksgiving Day at their home.  I never forgot how welcome I felt and what a good Thanksgiving it was.  I have not seen Ruby in a very long time but when I think of her I still remember her smile and her sweetness.  I am sorry for your loss.  May a lifetime of precious memories bring you comfort and knowing that she is with our Father in heaven.

Ms Ruby was one of the finest ladys that I have ever known.  I was an unknown son of Genes and was welcomed to the family by Ms Ruby with open arms. She along with David, Virgil, Joy and Darryl and their families always made me feel like I was part of the family. I loved to hear about her childhood days growing up.  She made the best of every situation. She never said anything bad about anyone.  Most of all, she was a Christian.  She will truly be missed by all.
