Sadie was born on Christmas Day, 1925 to John Carey Armstrong and Martha Howell Armstrong. The youngest of 7 children, Sadie grew up on a farm in Etowah and attended Etowah high school, where she met and eventually married Charles Jackson Kinnamon shortly after their high school graduation in 1943. When Charles returned home from over two years overseas during WWII, he and Sadie became the loving parents of two girls, Lesa and Amy, who would eventually make them the proud grandparents to 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Sadie’s grandchildren were her greatest source of joy, and she had a special relationship with every one of them. Sadie also took great pride in her garden and you could find her most days outside tending to it. She was a faithful member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and loved a good game of bridge. She will be missed deeply and remembered always by her family who will keep her spirit and memory very much alive.
Sadie was predeceased by her spouse, Charles Jackson Kinnamon.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lesa Kinnamon Reid and Amy Kinnamon Lee; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Reid) Lapsley, David Reid, Robyn (Reid) Gillani, Haley Christian, and Mattison Lee; and seven great-grandchildren, Jackson Reid, Koen Reid, Wyatt Reid, Nolan Reid, Eleanor Lapsley, Josephine Lapsley, and Wylder Gillani.
A visitation for Sadie will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37919. A funeral service will take place at 2:00 PM after which family and friends will reconvene at Whispering Waters in Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery for a short committal service.
Family and friends are invited to wear something colorful in lieu of black to celebrate Sadie’s spirit and legacy.
