

Sam was a skilled carpenter who found great purpose in his work and took pride in craftsmanship done well. He was a devoted member of Norwood United Methodist Church, where he was deeply involved and known for his servant’s heart. Sam will be remembered by friends and neighbors as a kind, generous, and loving man who was always willing to lend a helping hand.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Viola Tillett. He is lovingly remembered by his cousins: Frank Brymer of Knoxville, Tennessee; Jim McPhatter of Wagram, North Carolina; and Charles Tillett of Maryville, Tennessee.
A receiving of family and friends will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37919. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m., with Lay Minister Frank Brymer officiating. A graveside service will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery, with Pastor Bill Rimmer officiating.
Samuel’s life was a quiet testament to faith, hard work, and compassion for others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
