Scott was born November 5, 1962 in South Knoxville, Tennessee, to Martin and Mildred Cagle.
He graduated from Doyle High School in 1981, then went on to Carson-Newman College, where he was a proud member of the Eagle Football Team. After earning his college degree, Scott received his Master’s of Divinity Degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Scott married Melissa Jenkins in 1984. They were married for 40 years and have two children.
When Scott was 14 years old he made a commitment to become a Christ follower, a decision that changed his life forever. Because of that decision, his family looks forward to seeing him again in heaven.
Scott was in ministry for over 40 years, serving first as a Student Pastor and then as a Senior Pastor. He founded NorthStar Church in Knoxville, Tennessee in 2003 and pastored there for over 20 years, retiring in August of 2024. He continued to attend NorthStar and loved being part of the body of Christ there. After retirement, Scott found much joy in his work with young men in ministry, incarcerated men and helping to take the gospel to the jungle regions of Brazil. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed annual trips to Alaska and Colorado.
Left to cherish Scott’s memory are his wife Melissa; his son Caleb Cagle and wife Amanda; his daughter Erin Wright and husband Sam; brother and sister-in-law Ross and Glenda Cagle. Grandchildren: Grant, Emmi, Niko and Roa Cagle; Ava and Josiah Wright, along with his mother-in-law; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews and cousins.
Preceding Scott in death are his parents, Martin and Mildred Cagle.
