Spencer Rogers Hudson

Ooltewah, TN and moved to Athens where he attended McMinn County High School. He

earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Tennessee. He coached

football, basketball, baseball, track, tennis, golf, and taught English at Doyle High

School. He retired from teaching in 1981 and enjoyed his second career as a financial

planning and life specialist with All State. After retirement, he served as a teaching

assistant at Mooreland Heights Elementary School.

He was married to Rebecca (Becky) Webb Hudson for over 55 years preceding her death

in December 2018. Spencer was actively involved with his church and served as a deacon

for many years. He was a Board Member with the Boys & Girls Club, Cansler Unit, and

volunteered with Kairos Prison Ministry of Tennessee. He loved traveling, fishing, gardening,

and was an award-winning artist whose paintings have brought people joy for many years.

Spencer fully embraced his calling to serve others.

Spencer is survived by his two children, Amanda Hudson Giese (spouse Kerry Giese) of

Altamonte Springs, Florida; Joe Hudson (fiancé Christine Bell) of Knoxville, TN; his loving

girlfriend, Carla Lay Miller; his grandchildren Lauren, Spencer, Ember, Roxanne,

Maddie, and Taylor; his two sisters, Cynthia Norris and Mary Coker; and his brothers

Fletcher, George, and Doug Hudson. He was preceded in death by his parents David and

Juanita and his two brothers, David and Joe.

A celebration of life will be held at First Baptist Knoxville, 510 W. Main; Knoxville TN 37902

on September 19, 2021, at 2 p.m. Following the celebration of life ceremony, the receiving

of friends will take place outdoors at the church to provide safety from COVID-19 for any persons wishing to attend.
