

Sterling “Silver” Mac King, age 69, of Knoxville, TN passed away on November 7. 2025. He was born on June 29, 1956 in Waco, Texas. He was the oldest child of the late Wendell and Thelma King. He was of the Baptist faith.
Sterling was a man of many talents. Following high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps where he earned the rank of Corporal, earned the Sharp Shooter Award, and became a sniper. Upon his honorable discharge, he joined the U.S. Navy to be come an Air Traffic Controller. He was in both the tower and doing flight service. He retired from the FAA and moved to Knoxville. Since then, he has volunteered daily for almost 14 years at Mobile Meals loading and delivering meals to the elderly in Knox County. Under Sheriff J.J. Jones, he worked in the SCAN program checking on senior citizens.
Sterling enjoyed watching the Vols play at Neyland Stadium. He loved NASCAR and NHRA racing. He attended many races with his brother. He supported several charities and was eager to help when friends had needs. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Cornelia King and Willie and Lily Schilling.
He is survived by brother, Kenneth G. King (Sherri), and sister Edna “Dee” Morrison, nephews Jonathan W. King, and Sterling A. Morrison along with niece Katie M. Spurling and two great nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920. A brief service and interment will be held at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 East Gov. John Sevier Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920 on Monday, November 24, 2025 at 2:00pm where military honors will be rendered for Sterling's service to his country.
