Susan Elizabeth Schnicke Grahl, 45, a lifelong resident of Knoxville, passed away suddenly and peacefully on June 5, 2018.

Susan was born in Knoxville on February 23, 1973 to Tom and Connie Schnicke. She graduated from South Doyle High School and lived life to the fullest. Susan never met a stranger and was a true friend to everyone she met. She never allowed anyone to feel as if there was anything more important in the world than the person she was in conversation with at that moment. She was a lover of life, and enjoyed spending time with others—learning about them and laughing with them. There was only one time she would not allow herself to be interrupted and that was anytime UT Football was on—she was a Vol For Life!

Susan leaves behind so many people to cherish her memory that there isn’t enough room to print all of their names. She leaves her dear husband, Jeff; son, Colton; mom and dad, Connie and Tom; brothers, Eric and Chris; sister, Kimberly; special aunt; Anne; nieces, Julie and Aurora; nephews, Thomas, Michael, and Baron; her pup and favorite four-legged companion, Ivy Lee; numerous other extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Susan’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 4 until 6 pm at McCarty-Evergreen Funeral Home, 7426 Asheville Hwy, Knoxville TN 37924. A Funeral Service to celebrate her life will begin at 6 pm. The family will meet in the Chapel of East Tennessee State Veteran Cemetery on Thursday, June 14, at 11:30 for interment. Condolences may be shared with the family online at

I so enjoyed meeting you when I came down in 2015. I thought what a lovely, caring, thoughtful and giving person this is. And I'm sure that anyone who ever had the chance to meet you thought the same. We were so looking forward to seeing you again. It saddens us deeply that we will not get that opportunity, as I'm sure it does all of your family and friends. You are and will be missed very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family in this very sad time.
Lots of Love,
Jeannie & Kendal

Connie and Tom,
We were so heartbroken to hear of the loss of your daughter Susan. As parents we never understand when our children are called to Heaven ahead of us, but God has a plan and He never makes a mistake. Please know you will be in our thoughts and prayers in the days ahead. May the Lord comfort you in the sad times, but may precious memories sustain you this side of being reunited with Susan again someday.
With Much Love ❤️

I went to South-Young HS and South-Doyle HS with Susan. We were in cosmetology together and had a blast because she would crack us all up. She was so sweet and always wanted to make every everyone else feel happy and good. She was always smiling. My condolences to the family and other friends of Susan. She will be sorely missed.
