Sylvesta Johnson

JOHNSON, SYLVESTA M. – went to be with the Lord on November 25, 2011 after a brief stay at Tennova Residential Hospice. She was born on August 31, 1919 in Knoxville, TN to Gifford and Effie Miller. Mrs. Johnson was a Christian and member of Beech Grove Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school for many years at Valley Grove Church at Ball Camp Pike and was active in W.M.U. and a founding member of Karns P.T.A. Her family and friends were dearest treasures. Sylvesta was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Johnson; and ten brothers and sisters. Left to cherish her memory are children Charles F. Johnson (Dorothy), Nancy James (Jesse), Carolyn Romines. She has one surviving sister Ruby Underwood; grandchildren Ed Romines (Tammie), Kathy Stover (Andy), Cindy Carlyle (Wes), Rick Tarver, and Lori Johnson; great grandchildren Quinton Tarver, Alysha Wise (Paul), Cody Carlyle (Felcia), Zack, Shelby, and Ben Stover, and Brady Davis; great-great grandchild, Boone Carlyle; sisters-in-law Ruby Miller, and Mary Ann Johnson; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Weaver Funeral Home Tuesday, November 29, 2011 from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Family and friends will meet 12:15pm at Lynnhurst Cemetery for a 12:30pm graveside service with Rev.
