Teddy (Roy) Gibson, age 76 of Mascot, won his long fight with cancer and entered his Heavenly home Friday, April 29, 2022. He was a member of Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church and a 1964 graduate of Carter High School. In 1967, Roy was drafted into the U.S. Army and proudly served as a Staff Sergeant with the 9th Infantry Combat Engineers during the Viet-nam war. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #738 F&AM, where he served as Past Master and Chaplain. Roy was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of Kerbela Shrine, and a founder of the Kerbela Motor Corp. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 1733 and American Legion Post 02.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Lucile Gibson; sisters, Carolyn Sue Gibson and Ada Mae Caldwell.
Roy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia (Pat); daughter, Shannon (Joe) Brewer; grandchildren, Jayke Buck, Caitlin (Gavin) Julian and Elli (Nic) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Gryffin and Baker Johnson; brother, Carl (Brenda) Gibson; his faithful dog, Jenny and a multitude of close family and friends.
Roy will have a call at convenience Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 12:00-5:00 p.m. at McCarty Evergreen Funeral Home, 7426 Asheville Highway. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 4, 2022 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with service to follow at 8:00 p.m., Rev. Rocky Glenn officiating. Family and friends will meet at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2022 at McCarty Evergreen Funeral Home and leave in procession to East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery for an 8:30 a.m. Interment.
