Teresa was a graduate of Furman University and dedicated 25 years of service to the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) before retiring to enjoy one of her greatest passions, traveling and experiencing new places.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, John “Jack” and Jean Furgurson. She was also preceded in death by her dear friends, Doug Tillie, Kayla Tillie, and Karen Franklin.
Teresa leaves behind her cousins, Kelly Furgurson, Allen Carr, Beverly Thompson, and Lynn Daniels. She is also lovingly remembered by many special friends who became like family, including Marie Tillie, Lorri Lee (Tommy), Dalton Price (Mendy), Douglas and LouAnna Price, Kamryn Kirkland (Hunter), Kendyl Tillie (Tate Daniels), Kinsley Daniels, Josh Hornberger, Kevin Franklin, Jimmy Franklin, Brent Norris, Jennifer Holsopple, Abby Thomas, Linkin Luttrell, and Jackie Franklin, along with many other cherished friends whose lives she touched through her kindness and friendship.
Teresa will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her love of travel, and the lasting friendships she cultivated throughout her life. She had a compassionate heart, especially for animals, and her generosity and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Receiving of family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:00pm with a funeral service to follow. A graveside service will be held at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery at 3:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sevier County Animal Shelter, in honor of Teresa’s love for animals.
