TG was born in Knoxville, TN on Sunday, April 2, 1944, to Terry and Louise (Gowen) Horn. The Horn’s resided in Bearden with TG attending Bearden High School and Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN.
TG is survived by his wife of 56 years Laura (Whitehead) Horn originally from Shelbyville, TN, and beloved dog Ellie Mae. Also, with his only daughter Rebecca (Horn) Messner and her husband Kent Messner of Nashville, TN and his grandchildren Tate & Phin Messner. TG’s brother Howard, his wife Reba, sister Beth (Horn) Waters and husband John. Along with numerous nieces and nephews and their children.
TG and Laura met at Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN in 1968 and were married on June 27th, 1970. They moved back to Knoxville and TG worked for his dad at Terry Horn Seed Company. In later life he worked for National Automotive Sampling System conducting automotive crash research.
TG was very passionate about his work with the Lion’s Club, Knox County Agricultural Council of the Chamber of Commerce, Teaming to Educate for Agricultural Mastery (TEAM), and the Tennessee & Bijou Theatres.
TG and Laura attended Laurel Church of Christ and in 2002 began attending Farragut Church of Christ and are very involved in their church community.
Receiving of Friends and Family from 2-4pm on Saturday, September 12th with a Celebration of Life following at 4:15pm, both to be held at Farragut Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in the name of Terry (TG) Horn to the Christian Students Center at the University of Tennessee and/or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of East Tennessee (JDRF).
