

Berry, Thelma Mae Williams –age 100, entered heaven’s gates Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Asbury Acres Health Center. She was a longtime member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday school for many years. Thelma and her husband also spent many years serving as volunteers at Baptist Hospital where she was President of the Volunteer Organization. She served families in the surgical waiting room taking care of their needs. Thelma especially enjoyed flowers and much of her time was devoted to her beautiful flower gardens. She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, John William (Bill) Berry; parents, J.C., Sr. and Trula Williams; brothers, J.C., Jr. and Don Williams. Thelma is survived by her sister, Dorothy McPherson of Knoxville; sister-in-law, Cathy Williams of Scotts Bluff, Nebraska; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM-2:00 PM on Friday, July 5, 2013 in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. Funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM with Chaplain Dan Hix and Reverend Laura Rasor officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com.
