Thelma L. Smith

SMITH, THELMA L. - age 81, went to be with the Lord and loved ones November 26, 2013. She is of Baptist faith and has been a member of Maynardville Baptist Church since she was a child. She retired from UT Medical Center in 2005 where she had many friends. Preceded in death by husband, William (Booie) Smith; father and mother, Scott and Mintie Munsey; grandson, Cody Hancock; sisters, Lena Rose, Dora Crawford; brothers, J. Will Munsey, and Joe Munsey, all of Maynardville. Survived by sons, Dennis, Richard (Mary), and Tony; daughters, Sherry (Coy) Lundy, Renee (Jerry) Mayse, all of Strawberry Plains (Tuckahoe); grandchildren, Rachel and Nick Smith, Denver, Sidney Smith, Joseph and Kaytlen Shavna, Josh Welch, Brandy and Danny Hall, Travis and Jeanne Smith; nine great grandchildren; brothers, Frank and Jerry Munsey of Maynardville; special great niece, friend, and caregiver, Libbie Buckner of Knoxville; many nieces, nephews, and special friends. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to all of the staff of UT Hospice and a special thanks to Nurse Denise and Tish. Pallbearers are sons, grandsons, and friends, Dennis Smith, Richard Smith, Travis Smith, David Hartgrove, Jimmy Wilson, and Scott Cown. Honorary pallbearers are Tony and Denver Smith, Joseph Lewis, Nick Garland, and Coy Lundy. Receiving of friends and family will be Friday, November 29, 2013, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at McCarty-Evergreen Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Mike Vincent and Rev.
