Theodore Eugene Childress

Theodore (Ted) Eugene Childress was called to his heavenly home on Saturday, July 8, 2017. Ted was born and raised in Hickory, North Carolina and graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force as a pilot and later became a Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation where he retired after 22 years. Ted also served as an Elder in the Presbyterian Church in America for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sanford and Lena, and by his brother, Bill. Ted leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Pat, and their five daughters and sons-in-laws, Gayle and Rick Greene, Sandra and Doug Yarborough, Teddi and Rick Sharpton, Linda and Jim Cowan, and Tricia and Britt Limpus; eleven grandsons, three granddaughters, three great grandsons; and his niece and nephew, Beth and Billy Childers. Ted will be lovingly missed by all who knew him. A service to celebrate and honor Ted’s life will be held at 1 pm Thursday, July 13, in the chapel of Berry Highland West Funeral Home, 9913 Sherrill Blvd, Knoxville, 37932. The family will receive friends from 11 am until service time and burial will follow in the cemetery with Military Honors.
