Thomas Matthew Hardesty, 38, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 19 2022, at Fort Sanders in Knoxville, Tennessee. Thomas was born September 29, 1983 in Knoxville to Ellen “Fay” and Bob Hardesty. He was employed with Towe’s Ironworks for many years and was a former classmate at Fulton High School. Thomas loved sports and working on cars. Anyone that knew Thomas would say he always kept a smile on his face and was a friend to everyone he met. Thomas was a hardworking, driven family man, that gave his all in everything he touched. One thing he cherished more than anything was family, his wife and his children were his world. Thomas had overcome a lot during his short 38 years here. You would never know he struggled because of the smile on his face and the way he held his head high.
Thomas met the love of his life, Courtney Brown Hardesty, September 9, 2012 and would later marry, August 1, 2014. Friends and family would say they had never seen Thomas happier and how proud they were of him for turning his life around after meeting his Courtney. Thomas was an amazing father to his four children, Raylen, Ryleigh, Isaac and Cameron Hardesty. He was a beloved “Papaw” to his granddaughter Ivy. Thomas also leaves behind his brothers, Robert (Venessa) and Joseph Hardesty, multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.
Thomas is preceded in death by his father, Bob Hardesty; his grandmother; father-in-law, James Brown; childhood friend, Derek, and baby boy, Thomas Matthew Hardesty Jr.
Thomas will forever be a shining light through his children and his name will always bring smiles and laughter when it is heard.
A visitation will be held to celebrate Thomas’ life on Sunday, June 26, 2022 from 1-3pm at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home, 5315 Kingston Pike. Come by and share memories of Thomas surrounded by his loved ones so we can properly say our goodbyes. There will be refreshments and plenty of memories going around.
