Tom grew up in Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Western Wayne High School and then went on to Penn State to receive his electrical engineering degree. A devoted Nittany Lions fan, he was a lover of all things Penn State.
Tom began his career at Virginia Power. While in Richmond, Virginia, he met his wife Jeannine. They later moved to Knoxville where they started their family. He worked many years for Electrotek Concepts before finishing his career at EnerNex. Tom was very involved with IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and held many positions within the organization.
A passionate sports enthusiast, Tom coached his son Ryan's golf and soccer teams and enjoyed refereeing soccer for many years. He was very active in the Knoxville Cherokees organization and a big fan of the Nashville Predators and New York Rangers. An athlete himself, Tom played both roller and ice hockey. He later developed an interest in NASCAR racing. In his leisure time, he enjoyed watching and feeding birds, cooking, and using a smoker to prepare barbecue.
Tom is preceded in death by his father, Fred Grebe. He is survived by his loving wife, Jeannine Grebe; son, Ryan Grebe; mother, Jane Grebe, and sister, Laura.
