

Ford, Tomcie K, (Tommy), age 96, of South Knoxville, passed away peacefully at home on September 10, 2010. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of New Prospect Presbyterian Church. When he was young, he worked at the Knoxville News Sentinel and became the owner of American Legion Post 138, Alcoa Highway. He was a member of Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame and a representative of the state of Tennessee Senior Citizens Olympics, and won second place in a national golf tournament at age 93. Tommy was blessed with numerous lifelong friends, and had a charitable heart and continued to give till the end. He was preceded in death by parents Elmer and Johnny Ford, Brothers Marion, Ceburn and Walter Ford, Sisters Bonnie Lane, and Betty Reynolds. He is survived by nephews Buddy and wife Connie Lane, John Cebie and wife HL Ford, Randy Reynolds, Bud and wife Sandra Ford, Tommy and Dickey Ford, nieces Becki and husband Stanley Hayden, Judy and husband Johnny Caldwell, Michele and husband Jackie Cathey, and unofficially adopted daughter Tracey Labelle- Speeks and husband Eddie Speeks and grandson Griffen Puett. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to New Prospect Presbyterian Church, 4920 Prospect Road, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM, Rev. Jerry Anders officiating. Family and friends will meet at New Prospect Presbyterian Church on Thursday for an 11:00 AM interment service. Full military honors will be presented by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard.
