

Born on January 1, 1936, in Elkhorn City, KY, Tommy was a long-time resident of Rutledge, TN, where he called home for the last 50 years. Tommy was saved and Baptized as a young man in Detroit, MI. He will be fondly remembered for his love of tinkering in his garage, his simple pleasure of enjoying a cup of coffee with a honey bun, and, above all, his deep and unwavering devotion to his family.
Tommy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Opal Jean Hurley; his parents, Lee Roland and Nola (Kerr) Hurley; his brothers, Dean, Donald, and Tilden Hurley; and his sisters, Lois (Tiny) Stewart and Helena Broom.
He is survived by his children: Sharon White, Kim (Mark) Lemons, Sonya (Jerry) Dalton, Kevin (Leanna) Hurley, Thomas (Leeann) Hurley, Debbie, Rhonda, and Charles. He also leaves behind a legacy of 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends.
The family will receive friends Saturday July 11, 2026 from 12-2 PM at Berry Highland South 9610 E. Simpson Rd. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Leonard Dalton and Rev. Danny Neal officiating. Interment will be Saturday July 11, 2026 at 3:00 PM in Berry Highland South Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.berryhighlandsouth.com
