Vernon William Burns Jr.

Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army.

Preceded in death by parents Vernon David and Agnes Burns; three sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Paula Burns; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Marcus Brown; son and daughter-in-law, David and Trinetti Burns; grandchildren, Zach, Keely and husband Diego, Kyle, Jalen, Jordan, Breanna and Chase; great grandchildren, Peyton, Parker, Kallie and Khloe, all of Knoxville, Tennessee; sister, Nancy Cook of Farmington, MO; special brother-in-law, Randy Hammers and father-in-law Will Hammers both of Six Mile, SC; special niece, Ashley Harrison of Bonne Terre, MO and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 5pm to 7pm at McCarty Evergreen Chapel, 7426 Asheville Hwy, Knoxville, TN, a funeral service will follow at 7pm with Rev. Mark Steinbach officiating. Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 23 at 12:30pm in the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. Arrangements by McCarty Evergreen Chapel.
