Walter Ivine Whitaker

Walter Ivine Whitaker, age 86 of Sharp’s Chapel, passed away Monday, September 4, 2017. He was a longtime member and Deacon of Taylor’s Grove Baptist Church. His love for God was shown in everything he did. Ivine was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a brick mason and was extremely detailed about his work. Preceded in death by parents, John and Sallie Whitaker; son, Bennie Whitaker; daughter-in-law, Vicky Whitaker; sister, Barbara Jean Nelson; brothers, John Jr. and Clayton Whitaker. Survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Doris; children, Chester Whitaker and family, Nancy Poe and family, Col. Curtis Whitaker USAF and family, Christine White and family; Jackie Whitaker and family; grandchildren, Mindy (Brian), Kerry (Zanna), Suzanne (Micah), Steven, Forster, Ben (Casey) , Daniel (Mary Mae) , Kristy (Billy) , Becky (Rusty), Scotty (Ashley), Magnus and 18 great-grandchildren and two on the way; sisters, Louise and Zelda Mae. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday at Weaver's Chapel with the service to follow at 7:00 pm Reverends Liford and Dean officiating. Family and friends will meet 9:45 am Thursday at Piney Grove Cemetery on Piney Grove Church Rd., Knoxville for a 10:00 am interment. Condolences are welcome at www.weaverfuneralservices.com.
