Wayne Cardwell Kerr, 91, departed this life on December 27, 2020 to join his beloved wife, Shirley Waller Kerr and to be with Jesus, whom they faithfully loved and served. He was a resident of Continuum Courtyard Memory Care Facility. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Kerr and his mother and step-father, Bonnie and Henry Morris.
Wayne served in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge in 1957. He then joined the Knoxville Police Department and worked in several positions before retiring after 37 years. After retirement he worked as a U.S. Marshall, serving in the federal court system.
Wayne is survived by his brothers, Gene (Sandy) Kerr, James Bobby (Bernice) Kerr, sister-in-law, Celia Waller Brewer and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family appreciates the care he received through the staff at Continuum Courtyard, Senior Home Assistance and especially his good friend, Alicia.
He was a faithful member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church where he attended until Summer, 2019.
Friends may call at their convenience at Highland Memorial Mortuary on Tuesday afternoon between 10:00 and 2:00. A Celebration of his life will be held at Highland Memorial Cemetery on January 5, 2021 at 3:00 pm and will be officiated by Rev. Kent Williams and Rev. Allan Taylor.
