Wendell Irvin Sparks, age 53, Knoxville, TN went home to be with the Lord on April 15, 2011. Wendell was a faithful Christian and dedicated member of Gospel Baptist Church where he served as Assistant Sunday School Superintendent and member of the Board of Directors. Wendell was blessed to receive outstanding care from Dr. Martin, Dr. Chen and their staff during his illness. Wendell is survived by parents Rev. I.A. & Joyce Sparks, sister, Mickie Hair, nephews Brad & Bryan Hair and wife Jayme. A host of friends and relatives; Special Aunts, Marguerite Sparks, Maryville, TN and Katherine Sparks, Port Richey Florida. Family will receive friends Monday 6-8 pm at Weavers with service to follow at 8 pm. Rev. Bryan Hair officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 am Tuesday at Solway Church of God for an 11 am graveside service.
