William “Bill” Douglas Gotham Jr. was born on January 26, 1949, and died on August 25, 2026, at the age of 77. A resident of Knoxville, Tennessee, Bill will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection for the steady integrity of his life, the quiet wisdom he offered so freely, and the faithful devotion that shaped the way he loved and served others.
For 53 years, Bill was married to his beloved wife, Ann L. Gotham. He loved his family wholeheartedly and was a loving father to four daughters, a proud grandfather to two grandchildren, and a cherished uncle to one niece, one nephew, and one great nephew. His life was also shaped by those who went before him: his parents, William and Nellie Gotham, and his sister, Lynda Kramer, all of whom preceded him in death.
Bill’s faith was central to who he was. He loved the Lord, loved studying the Bible, and cared deeply about imparting God’s truth with honesty and conviction. He served the church faithfully, including as an Elder, giving of himself with a generous spirit and a steadfast sense of responsibility.
In daily life, Bill found joy in simple, meaningful pleasures—being an avid golfer, spending time with family, and the treasured tradition of Friday night pizza with those he loved most. He also enjoyed making others laugh, offering warmth and lightness that drew people close and made time together feel like a gift.
