William Charles Gritzner (Bill) age 69, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Bill was a graduate of Farragut High School and a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. Bill developed a love of carpentry and building from years of working with his father. He became a master craftsman known for his exceptional carpentry skills and keen eye for detail. Bill based his work on the verse Colossians 3:23 (ESV): “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men."
He was a loving husband to his Pudd’n for 33 years and a proud father to his two daughters, and he cherished his role as “Pop” to his two grandsons, Eli and Riley.
Preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Wilona Gritzner; niece, Cheryl White Pryor; and father-in-law, Ed McGill.
Survived by the love of his life, Karen; daughters, Kristi Gritzner and Kayla (Cody) Wright; grandsons, Eli and Riley; mother-in-law, Louise McGill; siblings, Michael (Cesar) Gritzner, Sandy (Dave) White and Patti Gritzner; sisters-in-law, Amanda Stinnett, Elizabeth Tietsworth, and Joan (Mark) Moore; brother-in-law, Eddie (Tommy) McGill; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Tennessee Cancer Specialists along with Dr. Daniel Ibach and Sarah Harder for the compassionate care and support provided during the last two and half years.
The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 PM on Tuesday, September 3 at Highland Park Baptist Church with service to follow. Eddie Chasteen and Eddie Click officiating. Family and Friends will gather at the church at 10:20 AM on Wednesday, September 4 to proceed to Lakeview Cemetery for graveside services and interment at 11:00 AM. Pallbearers will be Cody Wright, Johnny Wright, Lee Garrett, Austin Beason, Mark Moore and Eric Nelson.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Highland Park Baptist Church building fund which was near and dear to Bill’s heart.
Bill’s legacy is one of love, dedication and pride in his family and his work. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
