Bill moved to Knoxville at the age of 10 and graduated from South High School in 1954. He was a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church. He joined the Navy during the Korean war 1954-1958 and served on 3 aircraft carriers as a Signalman. Bill retired from Rohm and Haas with 38 years of service. He loved to take trips on his motorcycle with his wife. Bill was an avid golfer at Holston Hills CC and enjoyed numerous golf trips especially to Scotland and Ireland.
Bill was preceded in death by parents, William and Irene Massie; wife, Joyce Holt Massie and sister, Caroline Peeples.
He is survived by sons, Andy Massie and Tim (Amy) Massie; 3 grandchildren, Adam, Abbey and Preston Massie; sisters, Lula Massie Jones and Betty Massie and several special friends.
There will be a Call at Convenience Sunday, August 6, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Berry Funeral Home 3704 Chapman Hwy. A private Graveside service will be held Monday, August 7, 2023 at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com
