William served in the Marine Corp, carrying forward a steady sense of duty and commitment that shaped the way he lived and the way he cared for others. Throughout his life, he was known as a man who believed in earning what he had through consistent work, speaking plainly and truthfully, and keeping faith at the center of his days.
William was married to Alma Sue Ward the love of his life for 68 years.
In quieter moments, William found enjoyment in simple, familiar pleasures—time on the golf course, the calm of fishing, and the companionship of sports always playing on the television. These were the routines that brought him comfort and reflected the grounded, dependable spirit so many came to rely on.
William is survived by his son, Thomas R. Snyder; brother, Benny Snyder (Judy); sister, Peggy Ginn (Jerry); granddaughter, Jessica Ward; great grandson, Elijah Crouch; and great granddaughter, Addison Crouch. He was preceded in death by his son, Kim Snyder; father, J.M. Snyder; mother, Johnnie Snyder; grandson, Joshua Snyder; and brothers, Carl Snyder, Kenneth Snyder, and Jerry Snyder (Janice).
The family extends special thanks to hospice, Fort Sanders Hospital, and his favorite nurse, Chasity, for their care and compassion. A graveside service will be held on May 14, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Gov. John Sevier Hwy. He will be missed by all.
