WILLIAM W. ‘RED’ SPANGLER, age 86, of South Knoxville, went to be with the Lord, Friday, May 3, 2013. Mr. Spangler was a lifelong member of Hillcrest United Methodist Church. He was a former law enforcement officer for the Tennessee Highway Patrol and for the Knox County Sheriff’s Dept. Mr. Spangler was a past president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and a former Democrat Party leader. Preceded in death by his wife, Eva L. Spangler; parents, James and Lillian Spangler; brothers, John R. Spangler and Roy E. Spangler. Survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Jean Spangler; granddaughter, Stacy Spangler; great-grandsons, Brennan and Cameron Ellis; sister, Edith S. Tarver; nephews, Buddy(Susan) Tarver and Dr. James (Christa) Tarver. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm, Monday, May 6, 2013 at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. Family and friends will meet at 10am, Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Woodlawn Cemetery for the graveside service.
