

Willis Hubert Campbell, age 98, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016. A veteran of the European theater of World War II, he was a devoted husband and loving father who lived a Gospel-believing life of service to his Savior to the benefit of his family, church and community. Born June 14, 1918, in Liberty Hill, Grainger County. Having joined Grace Baptist Church with his wife when they moved to Karns in 1951, he was the oldest member of that church at the time of his passing. Retired from ORNL. Preceded in death by his wife, Lois Parker Campbell, by father Byrd Campbell, and mother Wilda Cabbage Campbell. Also preceded in death by brother Swan Campbell and sisters, Ruth Allen, Ruby Campbell and Fern Turley. Survived by sons Mike (Sheri) Campbell of Brentwood, and Don (Betty) Campbell of Knoxville. Also survived by brothers Kermit Campbell of Knoxville, Dwight Campbell of Rutledge and sister Margerette Snelling of Taylors, South Carolina. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Weaver Funeral Home. Service will follow with the Rev. Mark Braddom officiating. Graveside service will be at Oak Ridge Memorial Park at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church in memory of Bill.
