After a long, hard-fought battle with dementia, Wilma Anne Belitz passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on September 6th. Born on November 8, 1935, Wilma was a strong, independent woman who lived a full life focused on serving others. From managing a doctor’s office as her career, to playing the piano for about 60 years at Piney Grove Baptist Church, to caring for several family members including her mother, to assisting several women in the community who were without family, Wilma’s life was one lived in service to others. She will be deeply missed by her two sons, David (Lisa) Belitz and John (Emily) Belitz, along with her five grandchildren whom she loved and adored - Dawson (Kenzie), Riley, Conard, Grady, and Avery.
Wilma spent the last years of her life under the tender care of the incredible staff at Jamestowne Assisted Living in Kingston, TN. Her family is profoundly grateful for the deep love and compassion they showed her every day.
Receiving of friends will be on Wednesday night from 5pm to 7pm at Weaver Funeral Home at 5815 Western Ave. Knoxville, TN 37921. The family will have a private burial at Lynnhurst Cemetery on Thursday at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church (by check 2109 Piney Grove Church Rd Knoxville, TN 37909) or to the Pat Summitt Foundation (online at donate.patsummitt.org or by check to PO Box 31002 Knoxville, TN 37930).
