Winnie graduated with a nursing degree Knoxville General Hospital in 1955 and worked at the Veterans Administration in where she met her husband, Charles S. Thomas. Charles and Winnie moved to Knoxville where she began working at the University of Tennessee Student Health Service and worked faithfully until she retired in 2000.
She was a long time member and participant in the Knoxville Choral Society. Preceded in death by brothers, Dwight Winburn, Hugh English and John English.
She is survived by son, Charles Thomas and wife, Lori; brothers, Robert and Ben English;
