Adelinda Downen

Linda Downen, 87, Kokomo, Indiana passed away on March 1, 2022. She was born on May 3, 1934 in Alpocha, Germany the daughter of Alois and Marie Kraus. On May 5, 1956 she married Robert E. Downen who preceded her in death in 1989.

Linda grew up in war torn Germany. In 1945 she was driven out of her home by the military. At ten years old her and her family escaped across the Chez boarder. Linda and her family settled in Flossenburg, Germany. In 1956 she met and married soldier Bob Downen. In 1958 she moved to the United States with her husband and traveled from New York to California and Japan. Linda also lived Montana for several years and settled in Indiana in 1966.

She worked at Howard Community Hospital for 40 years. Linda enjoyed bowling, baking, watching sports and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving relatives include three daughters, Ronnie Wilson (Jim) of Kokomo, IN; Debbie Custer of Greentown, IN; Dottie Fincher (Bob) of Converse, IN; eight grandchildren, Mike Wilson (Heather); B.J. Wilson; Andrea Moore (Scott); Josh Custer; Ashley Custer; Laura Roe (Bronson); Joseph Fincher (Heather); Katherine Fincher; seven great grandchildren, Ethan; Amelia; Izzy; Lily; Ali; Aubrey and James. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and grandson Dusty Dillman.

Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Monday, March 7, 2022 at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 West Alto Road Kokomo, Indiana 46902. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. www.sunsetmemorygarden.com.
