Pat was born in Deer Creek on March 6, 1930, the daughter of Alba and Ressie Mae (Fife) Newport, and is survived by her children, Gregory Cook, Virginia Beach, Virginia, William “Eddie” Cook, Jeffrey (Pam) Duncan, Larry (Kathy) Duncan, Lake Villa, Illinois, and Jayne Stites; her sisters, Thelma McCool, Huntertown, and Pauline Calveard, Roanoke; and her grandchildren, Julianna and John Duncan, Joshua, Caleb, and Jonathan Cook, Stephanie Cook, Ryan Cameron and Ralph Coulter.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Europe Cook; by her second husband, Frederick Carl Duncan Sr.; her son, Frederick “Freddie” Carl Duncan Jr.; and her siblings, David Newport, Adonis “Donnie” Eikenberry and Paul Newport.
Mother attended Kokomo High School, graduating in 1948. She loved her family beyond measure, almost as much as she loved Christ. She raised her children with courage, teaching us to love and respect all people, at all times. Mother was a prolific artist; she especially loved to draw profiles and angels. She was also a pianist, gifted with the ability of playing anything she heard by ear. Mom’s final calling is complete and she has been “Promoted to Glory,” where she is resting comfortably with her family, friends, and her Lord Jesus Christ.
We would like to thank the management and staff of North Woods Village, especially those who staff the Auguste Cottage, for the excellent, loving care they provided our mother while she was a resident there.
