Allen D. Silence

Allen D. Silence 87, passed away Friday, August 17, 2018. Allen was born in Tipton County on November 27,1930 the son of the late Hollis and Margie (Cartwright) Silence. He was a graduate of Prairie Township High School. Allen was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Elks and a lifetime member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was owner/operator of AAA Fence Co. for over 50 years. Al was also an avid through-bred horse race fan. He was a quiet gentle soul who will be missed by many.

Allen is survived by his wife and lifelong companion of 45 years Oma Lee Silence, or as he called her “Margo.” He is also survived by a brother Leon (Collette) Silence of Tipton, Brother-in-law Phil Whelchel of Tipton, and sister-n-law Diane Silence of Ark. along with several nieces and nephews. Also surviving Allen are his children-in-love Cathy (Greg) Bartrum, Lisa (Tom) Sorrell, and David ( Ada) Horoho. Grandchildren are Hollie Boor, Rich Sorrell, Lori Bieber, Lindsay Pyle, Melissa Shoemaker, Jesse Daugherty, Nathan Horoho and Sam Horoho along with their spouses. Allen also leaves behind thirteen great grandchildren.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Freddie, William (Kay), Robert and Cleon Silence along with sister Linda Whelchel.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at Ellers Mortuary, 3400 South Webster St. Kokomo,IN. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with funeral services immediately following. Pastor Meriah VanderWeide will be officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made to Liberty Baptist Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
