

Betty Jean Burton, 83, Kokomo, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 6, 2014, at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born September 3, 1931, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Edgar Leland and Lucille Nina (Fleming) Mynatt. On January 16, 1953, she married the love of her life, Leland Burton, and he survives.
She graduated from Fulton High School and worked at Delco until her retirement in 1984. She enjoyed oil painting, doll making, golfing, working in her garden, flowers, and animals. She loved God and her family. She was a member of the Women’s Christian Association, the Women’s Quilting Club, and Local UAW 292.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, David (Lori) Burton, Kokomo; three grandchildren, Stevie Lea (Ronnie) Grammer, Kokomo, Andrew Burton, Kokomo, and Steven Rushton, Springfield, Missouri; two step-grandchildren, Megan Grammer, and Jessica Galindo; and two sisters, Teresa (Kenny) Rose, Knoxville, Tennessee, and Marian Johnson, Fairborn, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sherry Lynn Ripberger, and one sister, Shirley Jones.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at In His Image Church, 300 E. 100 N., Kokomo, IN 46901 with Pastor Brad Swain officiating. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Memorial donations may be made to In His Image Church Building Fund, the American Heart Association, or the Kokomo Humane Society. Arrangements were entrusted to Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home.
