Obituary of Betty Colleen Maddox
Betty Colleen Maddox, 92, passed away on November 16, 2018. Betty (better known by loved ones as “Oohhoo”) was born to Raymond Sr. and Bonnie Ham on November 8th, 1926 and was the middle child to her brothers Raymond Ham Jr. and James Wayne Ham. She was a 1944 graduate of Kokomo High School, after which she worked at General Motors for 10 years as a secretary and then for many years in the Haworth High School office. Betty married Floyd H. Maddox on July 28th 1945 in Elizabeth City NC. Floyd preceded her in passing in 2004 following almost 59 years of marriage. Betty enjoyed, cooking (one of the best ever), traveling, following her grandchildren’s various sporting events, spending time with her fellow 1944 Kokomo High School graduates and her church family at Southside Christian Church. Betty was a devoted Christian all of her life and was always there for those in need. Betty leaves behind her son Michael (Kathy) Maddox, grandchildren Katie Beth Maddox, Anna Maddox, Abigail Maddox and son-in-law David Loose. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Floyd, brother Raymond Jr. (Bud Ham) and beloved daughter Mary Beth Maddox. Friends and family may call from 1PM-4PM Sunday, November 25th at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 26th at 11 AM also at the mortuary. Pastor Greg Reed (one of Betty’s nephews) will officiate the service. Betty will be laid to rest at Albright Cemetery following the funeral.
